Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT)

Wind Energy SystemsLinear EAST is one of the few companies in India which can supply VAWTs.  We specialise in Micro-Turbines with Output Capacities from 100W to 10KW.  Though they are not as common as  Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT),  we have decided to promote VAWTs for the following reasons.

  • The VAWTs start generating power at wind speeds as low as 3 m/s making them an ideal choice for India
  • The turbine generator and gearbox can be placed lower to the ground making maintenance easier and lower the construction costs.
  • The main advantage of VAWT is it does not need to be pointed towards the wind to be effective. In other words, they can be used on the sites with high variable wind direction thus making them ideal for urban applications.
  • Since VAWT are mounted closer to the ground they are more bird friendly and do not destroy the wildlife.
  • VAWT are quiet, efficient, economical and perfect for residential energy production, especially in urban environments.
  • They are extremely silent and have practically no vibrations. This reduces the Mechanical stresses on the building or Structure on which they are mounted thus making them an ideal choice for being mounted on top of tall buildings, Large Sign Boards or Street Lights.

Hybrid SystemWe have also found that using Wind and Solar Hybrid systems develop a fantastic synergy where each system complements the other almost perfectly thus making such systems far more effective and practical than Single Resource Systems.  We have therefore been attempting to combine these in most of our product ranges such as street lights or other self powered systems.

We can also supply HAWTs if required by the client or if more suitable for the particular application or region.
